38 Many Mansions residents awarded scholarships for education and job training

Thousand Oaks, Ca., June 14, 2025 - Dreams and ambitions got a boost as 38 well-deserving Many Mansions residents, ranging from high school seniors to hard working parents, proudly accepted a Vicky’s Scholarship Fund award.

The scholarships aim to support residents seeking continuing education and career training through Many Mansions’ Vicky’s Scholarship Fund. This year marks the 13th anniversary of the Fund, which has awarded over $325,000 since its inception. The Fund, established by Marty Garcia, a retired member of Many Mansions Board of Directors, honors his mother, Vicky Garcia, a lifelong educator who offered unconditional love and support to her many students.

Many Mansions prioritizes access to higher learning and vocational training as a pathway out of poverty. With programming that spans from kindergarten to higher education, the organization has the benefit of supporting resident youth’s growth and development over many years.

Many Mansions’ President and CEO, Rick Schroeder, noted: “Education builds a foundation for future success.  Over the years Many Mansions has built a continuum of educational programs for our youth, culminating in the Vicky’s Scholarship Fund.”

Dozens of Many Mansions residents attend Moorpark College each year. This year, Dr. Julius Sokenu, President of Moorpark College, delivered keynote remarks at the event.

Also delivering remarks was Mary Nicole Hintz, a Many Mansions resident and a 2025 scholarship awardee. Mary commented on the wrap-around support her family received when they moved to Many Mansions 16 months ago. “Many Mansions has been so much more than housing for my daughters and me. They have been hands-on, heart-first, and present in the moments that mattered most. Through their consistent support, encouragement, and resources we have gone from barely surviving to truly thriving.”

Two years ago, Many Mansions launched an expansion of its educational offerings - the College & Career Program. Through this program, resident teens gain valuable job skills as co-counselors and interns at Many Mansions on-site educational programs. Dedicated staff offer job-skills development such as resume writing workshops, interview preparation, and more. Additionally, youth participate in field trips to college campuses and various teen events designed to build community and expose them to continuing education options. Program participants receive ongoing support throughout their educational journeys, including course selection, financial aid applications, and mentorship.

This year, Many Mansions was honored to have received a charitable donation from Pennymac to support its College & Career Program. This generous donation will help expand the program, serving more teens and young adults.

Kisha Parker Croom, Managing Director of Corporate Sustainability at Pennymac, stated: "Our company's connection with Many Mansions has grown through their consistent presence at our annual onsite volunteer fairs, as well as our employees' dedicated volunteerism. We have great respect for their long-standing commitment to providing affordable housing and vital services that strengthen our local community. This year, we are especially proud to support their College & Career Program, which directly aligns with our ongoing efforts to foster financial literacy, education, professional growth, and economic inclusion within the communities we serve."
