VCCU aids local nonprofits with support of FHLBank San Francisco

FHLBank San Francisco matches VCCU’s contributions to three nonprofits, totaling $25,000

VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. (April 22, 2021) — Ventura County Credit Union has been selected for FHLBank San Francisco’s donation matching program. This means  FHLBank San Francisco will match recent contributions that VCCU made to three local nonprofits.

VCCU made its original donations to Food Share, Ventura County Community Foundation and Health Care Foundation for Ventura County last June through the #VCCUCares program. FHLBank San Francisco is matching $25,000 of VCCU’s total contributions, and the funds will be split among the three nonprofits.

“We are pleased to partner with our member Ventura County Community Credit Union and match their generous donations to vital nonprofits in their community,” said Marietta Núñez, senior vice president and community investment officer at FHLBank San Francisco. “The nonprofits VCCU has selected to support are lifelines for vulnerable families and individuals still struggling with food and financial insecurity and access to health care as a result of the pandemic.”

FHLBank San Francisco’s donation matching program is designed to provide assistance to nonprofits and small businesses affected by the economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and to support communities affected by natural disasters. The bank matches up to $25,000 per member, on a first-come, first-served basis.

“Our local nonprofits do so much wonderful work to aid our community,” said Linda Rossi, president and CEO of VCCU. “We are honored to be able to contribute to the tremendous good they are doing, with the help of FHLBank San Francisco, we are thrilled to be able to provide even greater support for these important causes.”

In recent years, VCCU has provided over a half-million dollars, thousands of pounds of food and school supplies to charitable organizations through its corporate giving and in-branch fundraisers. The credit union also offers each of its staff members compensation for up to 40 hours per year of volunteer time.

To facilitate efforts to provide financial assistance and education to the community, VCCU formed The Foundation of Ventura County Credit Union, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, in 2015. The Foundation focuses on helping the underserved, beautifying and preserving the environment, and promoting health and well-being.
