The two branches of the Southeast Ventura County YMCA are holding “Healthy Kids’ Day,” a free community event to inspire kids to keep their minds and bodies active during the summer. The Simi Valley Family YMCA Healthy Kids’ Day is Saturday, April 13 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and the Yarrow Family YMCA Healthy Kids’ Day in Westlake Village is Saturday, April 20 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Healthy Kids’ Day has six zones where kids can visit: “Under & Over the Sea,” “Farm Friends,” “Space & Beyond,” “Markerspace,” “All About Sports” and “Fantasy Adventure.”  An obstacle course, rock climbing, crafts and games are part of the activities. The City of Westlake Village will celebrate its 2nd Annual Earth Day on April 20 at the Yarrow Y beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a movie to follow. Healthy Kids’ Day participants are encouraged to stay for the festivities.
Healthy Kids’ Day is a national event that began over 30 years ago. YMCAs around the country participate each spring.  “It can be a challenge to get kids outdoors, especially when they love being on their electronic devices. Healthy Kids’ Day shows them how much fun an active outdoor lifestyle can be,” says Ronnie Stone, YMCA President and CEO.
The Yarrow Family YMCA is at 31105 East Thousand Oaks Blvd., Westlake Village (818-707-9622) and the Simi Valley Family YMCA is at 3200 Cochran St., Simi Valley (805-583-5338).
Preregistration is required. Go to and select the Healthy Kids’ Day location.
